1. Where do you live?
Birdsboro, PA
2. What is your "brewery"
name?
Goob Dog Brewery--named after my first Doberman who loved beer!
(this was his nickname)
3. Year you started brewing
1999
4. Are you BJCP certified?
Yes, Certified
5. Favorite, most knowledgeable
styles
Probably Stouts are my favorite style, my "house" beer is
a dry irish stout, but I also love Russian Imperials.
6. Most Interesting Batch Made
A mint mead--it was a fantastic semi sweet mead when it was young,
and I thought I drank all of it. About 2 years later I found a 6 pack
of this, and was very excited. I opened one up, and
it geysered everywhere! I apparently bottled too soon, and there was
still active yeast, so I had bone dry mint champagne which
was NOT very tasty.
7. Greatest Brewing Moment
Serving homebrew to someone who has never had it, and seeing
their reaction.
8. Worst Brewing Moment
My 2nd or 3rd all grain batch I was sparging, and the tube from
the cooler popped off and started spewing hot wort all over the kitchen.
I grabbed a camping picnic cooler, dumped the mash into that, and then
put the tubing back together. I then scooped all the grain back into
the tun, and started over again. This was the last time I
used this cooler, AND the last time my wife let me
brew in the kitchen! The beer actually came out
pretty good considering.
9. Words to live by
Mopar or no car!
10. Something "non-brewing"
I am working on restoring two first generation Plymouth Barracudas:
a 1965 and a 1966. The 66 is on the road but needs paint and body
work. The 65 needs everything: engine, tranny, brakes,
interior, and paint. It will take me a long time to finish,
but once I do it will be worth it!
